Regular physical activity is one of the most important things one can do for health and longevity. For many people it is a leisure and social activity. For creative professionals and artists, physical well-being is essential to the job they love and their life’s purpose.
Artists, craftsmen, architects and designers are often called upon to shape their thoughts and emotions into a tangible form by working with their hands and body. Creators often sit or stand for long periods of time, observing tiny details at close range, using fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects, spending extended periods of time looking for differences between colors, shades, and brightness, holding their hands steady while moving their arms, listening for sounds and recognizing the difference between them, and optimizing breathing and movement while being still and focused. Practicing their physical skills is indispensable for self-expression and production, and executing repetitive movements well is essential to guaranteeing a long creative career.
This event will take place on Sunday, June 23rd from 4-6pm. Please dress comfortably and feel free to bring some of the tools you use daily to make art.
